about us

SGPC is a root level organization to promote productivity culture in South Gujarat, established in 1992, with support of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce Industry, Surat.
It is an autonomous, tri-partite, non-profit organization affiliated to National Productivity Council Under Ministry of Commerce Industry, Govt. of India.
It has equal representation from the Govt., employers and worker organizations, apart from this it has technical and professional institutions on its governing body.
SGPC offers various industrial training designed to upgrade and update the knowledge and skills of people in different business sectors.
SGPC's mission is to promote productivity excellence through the provision of integrated support across the value chain of firms, in order to achieve more effective utilization of resource, to enhance the value added content of products and services, and to increase international competitiveness. To strengthen SGPC's Training support, for both industrial and commercial communities.

Safety Dialogue in Surat to present findings

On 28th February, 2025 South Gujarat Productivity Council & Aajeevika Bureau, jointly organized a Safety Dialogue in Surat to present findings from a safety audit exercise that we had undertaken in collaboration with 50 power loom units. The Dialogue received excellent participation from industry leaders in Surat, including Mr. Ashok Jirawala, President of FOGWA (Federation of Gujarat Weavers Welfare Association), Mr. Nilay Pandya, Asst. Director of the Powerloom Service Center and Mr. L. K. Dungrani, Rt. Deputy Director of Dist. Industrial Safety & Health also graced the occasion.

Niveditha G.D. from Work Fair and Free Foundation and Sharad Zagade from Aajeevika Bureau, Surat presented findings on risks and hazards in the production process within the power loom units. Based on the major findings, concrete solutions to mitigate and address these risks were presented to the employers/ Unit Holders.

Power loom owners also shared experiences of collaborating with Aajeevika Bureau to set up ‘Model Worksites’, with safety features such as sensory lights, safe electrical wiring equipment’s etc. and enrollment of their workers in Workmen’s Compensation policy to provide greater social security to workers.

Ms. Divya Varma, Director, Work Fair and Free and Aajeevika Bureau spoke about their initiatives in enabling industry to adopt labour practices that ensure greater dignity, security and well- being of workers across labour- intensive sectors, specifically through their Social Compact initiative. Mr. Sanjay Patel, Programme Manager, Aajeevika Bureau highlighted the dire conditions of safety in the power looms, including serious injuries and deaths of workers. Urged the power loom owners and industrial bodies to take cognizance of this issue and take concrete steps to make power-looms safer and secure for workers.

કૃષિ વિજ્ઞાન કેન્દ્ર નાં ડોં. ભરત દાવડા (જુવાર સંશોધન ના નિષ્ણાંત) એ વિવિધ મિલેટ, તેમાં ક્યા ક્યાં પોષક તત્વો મળે ચ્હે તે વિષે સુંદર સમજણ આપી હતી.

શ્રીમતી જીગ્ના પટેલે કઈ કઈ મિલેટ (શ્રી અન્ન) નો ભોજન માં કેવી રીતે સમાવેશ કરવો તે સમજવ્યું હતું. મિલેટ આંબલી બનાવવાની રીત બતાવી હતી.

ત્યારબાદ કાર્યક્રમના અતિથિવિશેષ શ્રીમતી આમ્રપાલી દેસાઇ એ મન અને શરીર નું બેલેન્સ અને તેનું મહત્વ સમજવ્યું હતું

સમગ્ર કાર્યક્રમનું સંચાલન સંસ્થાના માનદ ખજાનચી શ્રી દિપેશ શાકવાલા એ સુંદર રીતે કર્યું હતું.

ત્યારબાદ સંસ્થાનાં સંચાલક મંડળ નાસદસ્ય શ્રી એડ. નરેશ શાહે પોતાની આગવી શૈલી માં સર્વે અતિથિઓ અને શ્રોતાઓ નો આભાર મણિ કાર્યક્રમનીપૂર્ણાહુતિ કરી હતી.

સર્વે શ્રોતાઓ અને અતિથિઓ એ ગરમાગરમ મિલેટ ની સ્વાદિસ્ટ વાનગી નો રસાસ્વાદ માણી છૂટા પડ્યા હતા.

Then Jigna Patel, who is also a millet promoter and an expert in millet recipes, explained how millet should be consumed and the different types of millets.

Seminar on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for Boilers in association with National Productivity Council.

South Gujarat Productivity Council organized a seminar at Conference Hall of Sachin Infra Environment Limited on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for Boilers in association with National Productivity Council.

Unido - Mr. Debajit Das, Project Coordinator of United Nation Industrial Development Organization at India and Experts on Environment and Energy Efficiency from National Productivity New Delhi. K. Asthana, Asi. Dye. Anand Verma, Day. Dye. Prashant Shrivastava, Professor of NIMS Jignesh Dave, and NPC - Gandhinagar's Diy. Rahul Kirkir came to give an insight on how fuel savings and efficiency can be increased in using boilers. What assistance is provided by government of India to increase the energy capacity of boilers and its efficiency, what can be help from banks and how can the energy use for good and maximum input is given Special spraying was done on the output could be obtained. Assistance and related loan information were given from the Indian Government to modify the boilers or to take new boilers for the upgrade of boilers. The National Productivity Council will play a main part in taking loan. Six clusters of different sectors have been fixed in India, including Surat and Ankleshwar are two main clusters, and work is going on today and those who have adopted these changes are getting very good results. Then the question answer was round and received very beautiful response. At the beginning of the program, on behalf of South Gujarat Productivity Council, President of the organization Nirav Rana, Treasurer Dipesh Shakwala, Former President Arvind Kapadiya and Mayank Dalal welcomed the dignitaries one after another. South Gujarat Productivity Council thanks National Productivity Council officers and other guests for giving beautiful information. Prashant Srivastava, Environment and Energy Efficiency Experts from National Productivity New Delhi, Professor Jignesh Dave, NIMS, and Dy. Rahul Kirkire, NPC - Gandhinagar, came to explain how fuel saving and efficiency can be increased in the use of boilers. In collaboration with the United Nations, special attention was paid to the assistance provided by the Government of India to increase the energy capacity and efficiency of boilers, what assistance can be provided by banks and through this, energy can be used in the best way and how to get the best output from the additional input given.
